Talk to me about Elvis
Forget 29" wheels.
Don't even think about 650 B.
I think I need to be racing on something like this in 2008.

or this

36" wheels. Yeah, they've been around for a little while. It was just recently that I started to have a fantasy.

Welcome to Dicky's Fantasy Island.
I think that Warwick could design it easily enough as he has a noggin for pulling off nice bike stuff. He hates the idea, but he's not from America so I don't think he understands the concept of "bigger is better". He's dying to get his new Ceraphim ceramic finish out there where people can see it. What better way than to put a little rider on a gargantuan pink wheeled bike.... Oh did I forget to mention that part of the fantasy? Yeah, Industry Nine would need to design an all new high flange 36 hole hubset in a totally new custom width to make the stiffest sexiest 36" wheels on the planet. I'm sure Ben Witt at Milltown Cycles would be in line for the second pair since this whole 36" wheeled MTB thing is mostly his brain child (his bike is the second picture, and his shop sells I9's). Alright, so my plan has a lot of holes in it, and yes I'm a moron for thinking it would be fun to race a hundie on one. Yet still I think rolling up to the start line on all that bike would just be so worth it.
Since being sick is keeping me from getting my body in shape I figured it was time to address the Meatplow's needs. I've been running the Hardcoat 1/8" 32 tooth Middleburn ring for thirteen months without a hiccup. Amazingly it was only showing signs of wear on the inboard side which I think is due to riding around with a less than perfect chainline (my fault) for six months. Since I had to the foresight to order a spare ring from Alex at MTB Tandems back when I got the cranks I decided to go ahead and make the swap before the season starts.
Swapping the rings is an easy task, made even easier with a bench vise. No silly chainring backing bolts to deal with.

One you get the lockring free it's just a matter of banging off the old ring and re-installing the new. Sweet.

People have been asking me how I like the Middleburns. Other than the fact that my luck with ISIS has been less than perfect (shoulda went square taper), they've been great. I don't see myself going back to standard rings unless something overwhelming happens to change my mind. Nicely centered ring to keep the chain tight, easy ring replacement, drop dead looks, beefy ring, an easy place to get them in the states (the cranks are English, ya know)... what's not to like?
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the induction of The Fajita into the Dillen household. How time flies, huh?
