Fifth grade like junior high

I found this race photo the other day. Here's Team Dicky crushing his way into the top ten at a beginners class race in Hidden Valley, PA back in the way early 90's. How many/what pieces of "dated" gear can you see in the picture? Bonus points for the most obscure find. I was a bike trend fashion slave and in some ways ahead of the game back in the day.

3 - manitou 2 front shock, avid tri-allign brakes (or maybe machine tech) with a tri-dangle, arya cr-18 rims? and a Kore stem (Comment this)

4 - Wow...
Eric--Nice call on the Camelbak pouch
Ano--Reebok Pump helmet (too far back on my head) sweet
And--Close on the fork, yup,Avid Tri-Aligns, nope on the rims...but the Kore stem is right on, 150mm long back in the day. Too bad they couldn't have made a 200mm. I woulda ran it.

5 - From the photo- I assume an optical illusion, looks like your running a 24" front/26" back wheel! Woo- You were ahead of your time! Did you ever break the AMP frame? (Comment this)

7 - Manitou III long travel fork there, if I am not mistaken. It was the last in the line of the original design Manipoo forks before they went to a one piece magnesium casting in '96. So, that would put this pic in the '95 season, most likely.

Anyway, yeah.....those loooong stems. I got a load of em in the basement parts bin. (Comment this)

8 - Yeah Manitou III. I can't believe you had rear sus back when it was crap and now that it's good you don't. ;) (Comment this)

9 - That bike looks like a muscle car with the roided out rear wheel and dinky little front. (Comment this)

10 - Let's see...
G-Ted--Close on the fork, still no cigar. Not quite a Manipoo III (they were blue).
Anon-- Yup on the AMP B3, but the wheel thing is an optical illusion. Both 26" with one of the most popular rims at the time.

11 - No my wife has a manitou 4 on her bike and it's blue. So the red is one of those fancy red 4's they had? (Comment this)

12 - uh oh, we might have a to have a history debate soon. I thought the Manitou (One, they didn't know there would be a Two) was gray, I thought the II was purple, and the III was blue. I could be wrong, but the Frankford Bike guys were all Manitou lovers, so I was surrounded by them for years. I do know what model I had as it was leaps and bounds ahead of the pack. (Comment this)

13 - Manitou EFC - the downhill version of the 4. Manitou "made" frames back then and they used thier fork legs for seatstays. Kinda pimp, kinda BOB-ee-BOING-ee.

Beer me please. (Comment this)

14 - OH yeah, you are correct about the colors. The 4 was blue as well, but the drop outs were silver. (Comment this)

15 - Gotta winner on the fork: Yes, it is a Manitou EFC. It was THE downhill fork at the time. Elastomer sprung with HYDRAULIC damping. I replaced the bumpers with Speed Springs and turned it into a real fork. I had what was considered an "all mountain bike" (by late 90's standards) before they even existed. 3"x3" of sweet travel.
A three inch downhill fork??? Sounds funny now, don't it? (Comment this)
