More changes
I usually don’t cut my hair unless I have a big race coming up. Hair seems like a vain luxury when it comes to endurance racing. Why on earth would you want to have your body running hotter than it has to, thus requiring more hydration? Seems dumb. The Pie felt like I needed to do something about my apperance regardless of the fact that I don’t have a “real” reason. I had to let all this off-season progress go.

It’s all gone now. I look like I have a big race coming up, but I’m all cleaned up with no place to go.
I made a few more changes to the Zion. Since the Meatplow is currently at the spa I have alot of her parts laying around. I took out the measuring tape and noticed a few things. The IF fork is a little taller than the Salsa, and it has less excess steerer tube to work with so on it went. This should raise the BB up a little, and add a few fashion points.
I also saw this item laying on the floor.

Yep, my Phil Wood EBB. Not only is the PW lighter it also has 3 or 4mm more throw (6-8mm total) than the stock EBB. That means I should be able to get that stubborn 32 X 18 gear that the other EBB wouldn’t allow. Not only that, it’s lighter, it’s black, and I get more fashion points.
The goofy little stem Eric gave me is apparently a 50mm. I didn’t measure it right the first time as it’s weird shape threw me off. I think it’s a happy length, and I now have a good plan. I won a free Thomson product at the Ultra Series last year, and I cashed in the voucher for a 27.2 X 410mm seatpost as it seems to be pretty popular on Ebay. I never got around to selling it, and when I contacted Thomson they seemed willing to exchange it for a 50mm stem. Sweet. It’s looking like the Zion will be a little less rough around the edges real soon. Maybe I should start pulling off all the ti bolts from the Meatplow and see just how low I can go…
